History
of Albiate 1830
1830
1830
Manifattura di Albiate is established by Giuseppe Caprotti as a company that distributes yarn to weaving mills in the countryside.
1840
His son Bernardo takes over the running of the company giving a decisive turn just at the right moment for weavers, with yarn prices dropping constantly. In these years the factory was more like the shop of a medieval merchant rather than a modern industry. Particularly designed looms maintain constant quality standards during the entire production cycle: examples of this are the special knotter and healder machines in preparation for weaving.
1860
1864
After a time of great expansion, with the value of stocks tripled, the company went on to the second generation with Giuseppe and Carlo Caprotti. When Bernardo died, the company had changed little compared to when we met it twenty five years earlier, expanding in the same direction: an office, a shop and a room for preparing manufactures.
1868
A real factory was built on the banks of the Lambro with a very big room for weaving equipped with 23 mechanical looms, a room for the boiler and steam machine plus some other smaller rooms.
1870
1900
1900-1906
Manifattura di Albiate benefits from a cycle that is highly favourable for the entire Italian economy, expanding still further in the market.
1920
The company is the first weaving mill that has looms for differently coloured cotton fabrics. A new weaving mill is set up in Sovico and a spinning mill in Giussano, thus the company reaches complete vertical integration.
1960
At the end of the Sixties a mechanical weaving mill opens in Albiate, to which a dyeing-mill is added.
2000
2000
Nothwithstanding the unavoidable transformation during the more than one hundred and fifty years of business, Manifattura di Albiate never lost sight of those principles that made it one of the leaders in the cotton sector. This know-how attracted the attention of the Albini family in the year 2000, ready to take the opportunity of acquiring the company and relaunching it, merging it with the Group's experience, creative spirit and technological innovation.
Today
After a radical company reorganisation, the Albiate 1830 brand presents itself to the market as a interpreter of a younger and sportier style as part of the Albini Group offer. A comprehensive collection full of ideas that ranges from the classical to fashion and sporty, with the item that is typical of Albiate 1830: Denim.
