The cotton of Albini Group

Cotonificio Albini, which selects only the best bales of each variety of cotton, uses the best quality raw materials in the world to make fabrics for shirts.
The difference that elevates Cotonificio Albini's products to a status of absolute excellence is its exhaustive knowledge of the raw materials of its suppliers and of their production process. In fact, the company does not limit itself to passively buying the raw materials, trusting to hasty choices based mainly on a more competitive price - but a specific department analyses data, studies synergies with the suppliers deemed most credible and chooses the cotton and yarns with logic according to the various types of fabric to produce. Knowing what you're buying and from whom is the first step towards a quality product.

Thanks to the numerous synergies actuated with the suppliers, the exchange of know-how, the attention to every detail and the elimination of the smallest flaw, even a top quality raw material is able to make an extra jump in quality towards absolute excellence.
Each single count of a yarn has its own characteristic. Cotonificio Albini manages to improve the raw materials, giving each item the tone required. All to the benefit of resistance to wear over time, maintaining a soft and silky texture.
Note that for all single yarn fabrics, Cotonificio Albini was the first to opt for the 100% compact technology: in this way, the greater parallelisation of the cotton fibre produces less hairy yarns that are more resistant compared to others of the same count plus greater resistance to abrasion and stretching.
These characteristics are evident also on the finished product. The fabrics are, in fact, brighter and more precisely defined with a soft and silky texture and considerable resistance over time.

Yet another improvement in the quality of the yarn produced is achieved with twisted and double twisted yarns.
Twisted yarn is achieved with a technique that combines two yarns and twists them together, imparting an even brighter appearance besides being more resistant and with less flaws. Double twisting is a technique by means of which twisted cotton threads are coupled together in pairs: this gives a fabric of superior quality, soft and even brighter and more resistant.
For most of its production the Albini Group uses high quality Egyptian cottons, such as Giza 88, Giza 87 or Giza 45, a guarantee of high resistance, great yarn regularity, brilliance innate in the raw material and excellent performance on the loom. The resulting fabrics have a marvellous texture and are resistant over time. The Albini Group further enhances this raw material, following the spinning phases carried out by the suppliers with whom it has a relationship of mutual trust and great co-operation. In particular, all the twisted yarns are subject to singeing - exclusively in Italy - that is, burning the hairs.

Another unique factor is also worthy of note: from count 120/2 all Cotonificio Albini twisted yarns use Giza 45 and Giza 87 cottons, a guarantee of a superior quality. The company is constantly researching for better raw materials for each family, for each count, for each product. A meticulous research that translates into the production of perfectly suitable fabrics, able to enhance the characteristics of the Egyptian raw materials.

The Albini Group produces yarns with a fine count of up to 120/2 from the American Supima. To improve the appearance of the fabrics compared to the others on the market, Supima is also made in the twisted thread counts, starting from a single compact yarn, capable of guaranteeing less breaks and flaws and a definite increase in the overall quality. The majority of the Supima used comes from the world cradle, San Joaquin Valley - a guarantee of quality and fineness.
As testimony of the quality of the raw materials used, Cotonificio Albini received authorisation to use the trademark Supima, issued by American Pima to industrial enterprises that are capable of enhancing cotton through research.

The David & John Anderson textile creations are unique also thanks to the use of yarns obtained from the true West Indian Sea Island cotton. It is the rarest and most precious variety that exists, containing the longest fibres in the world which can be as long as 39 mm, distinguishing itself for its purity and extreme resistance to tearing.

The yarn's perfect structure ensures that the shirts made with DJA Sea Island fabrics have a texture that is as soft as cashmere and with minimal hairiness, that they are light, cool but also resistant to washing.
A very strict quality control system and a network of suppliers created over the years guarantee a 100% purity of this raw material, used by Cotonificio Albini to create the Sea Island fabric, a double twisted poplin with a count of 120/2.
