The value of the quality
Cotton
The cotton from United States
The Supima yarn (from “Superior Pima”) represents the ideal solution for white fabrics, as this is the least polluted long fibre cotton in the world. It is cultivated in the west and south-west areas of the United States, in the San Joaquin Valley (which is the southern part of the Great Valley of California, one of the richest agricultural regions in the country thanks to a vast irrigation system and mild climate), Texas, California and New Mexico.
The main identifying characteristic is the absence of pollution of the fibres. It is, in fact, harvested and treated with the most highly automated technologies, with an industrial type large scale harvest (huge plantations) to avoid contamination by foreign fibres. This makes it ideal for producing fabrics for white shirts.
The excellent qualities suggest using it to produce fabrics for shirt making, with fine counts of up to NE 100/2 – NE 120/2. The length of the fibres do, in fact, allows fine fabrics to be made which are more flexible, shiny and with a surface that makes pilling (fuzz balls) less likely.
Supima is the only Extra Long Staple cotton in the world that is actively promoted at marketing level and whose authenticity is controlled by the Supima Association, of which Albini Group is member, at all production process levels.

It issues its licences only when it is certain that the raw material will be used in compliance with the standards established by American Pima.
